Leadership lessons from a season of change

What we learned about leading a team through a year of growing from twenty people to sixty.

In one year DrumKit went from twenty people to sixty. Every habit that worked at twenty broke at forty, and most of the ones we invented at forty broke again at sixty.

What held was writing things down. Decisions, reasons and owners went into one place everyone could read, so a new starter in Sydney could see why something was done in Melbourne two years ago. Meetings got shorter because the context was already on the page.

The other thing that held was saying out loud what was changing and what was not. People can take a lot of change when they know which ground is solid.
